Green — new tradition or excuse?

I am starting to see a disturbing trend with my friends. I am getting electronic Christmas cards all in the name of being green and leaving a smaller carbon footprint on the earth. While I applaud them for sending me anything at all, it distresses me to read that they are sending an electronic card this year because it is the green thing to do. I certainly understand why, but at the same time, there is just nothing more wonderful than opening that hand-addressed card with a personalized signature on the inside. So my question is this… what is the real motivation for sending me that electronic card? Are you just too lazy to actually pick out a card, sign it, stamp it and mail it? Please don’t get me wrong. I’m all for electronic mail. It’s great for basic communication. But I don’t think I will ever be able to give up sending out my Christmas cards all in the name of being green.

I haven’t sent you an electronic Christmas card yet, but I’m gonna. You’re right, I do it because I’m too cheap and lazy to stick a stamp on an envelope. I also haven’t sent you your Christmas present yet because I can’t decide which thing I’m gonna send. You may get it on time, you may not. If you weren’t so bird boned it wouldn’t be so hard to decide.

Cutting to the chase, this is all YOUR fault.

Electronic christmas cards are great for the environment. Don”t feel lazy that”s a really cool thing to do.
